Louis Vuitton Pays Tribute to Timeless Muses in Tokyo
By SENATUS News | 30 August 2013

Held at the luxury hotel Tokyo Station from 31 August to 23 September, Louis Vuitton pays tribute to six of its timeless muses with a new exhibition. The homage to the iconic women from the arts, fashion, nobility, stage and screen who have boldly marked the times in which they lived, include Kate Moss, Sofia Coppola, Catherine Deneuve, novelist Françoise Sagan, architect Charlotte Perriand and, 19th-century French Empress consort Eugénie de Montijo.

Personal items from each muse are on display, such as Deneuve’s own leather jewelry box, Sagan’s handwritten notes on her books and two Marc Quinn sculptures inspired by Moss.

The interactive exhibition will require visitors wear masks with polarised lenses and utilizes white screen technology. Visitors are given LV-monogrammed and Damier-print masks, which, when held up to the eyes, reveal video content on otherwise seemingly blank white screens.

These women have inspired Louis Vuitton in many ways. Some of them enjoy a long-standing relationship with the House, while others have inspired products or entire collections. More to follow on this story later.
