Ford Mustang Display Atop Empire State Building
By SENATUS Motoring | 26 March 2014

From 16 to 17 April, visitors to the top of Empire State Building in New York City will get a chance to see the newest Ford Mustang on its 86th floor observatory, reliving a feat the American car manufacturer last did in 1964, 50 years ago. Due to the Empire State Building’s height of 443 meters, a portable crane would not be able to lift the car to its location, neither can a helicopter deliver it, with the building's spire in the way.

As such, the vehicle will be delivered in parts via the elevator and re-assembled for display.

“New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, and it’s the place where the Ford Mustang story began 50 years ago,” said Mark Fields, Ford chief operating officer. “We’re thrilled to be visiting the architectural landmark that has been the heart of the Manhattan skyline for 83 years with the newest generation of the car that is the soul of Ford Motor Company.”
