JellyCat Singapore to Donate 100% Proceeds to Migrant Workers' Cause
By Singapore Strong | 1 May 2020

JellyCat Singapore has unveiled a new one-off online store at shop.jellycat.sg, bringing back a "blast from the past" collection of stuffed toys available for sale. 100% of the proceeds will go to Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2) with free shipping provided by J&T Express.

TWC2 will administer the donation to two entities. The first is The Cuff Road Project which offers a free breakfast and an ample dinner every weekday. Lunch is provided on Saturdays. This service is available to any documented migrant worker who is out of a job.

The second is FareGo, which provides small sums to injured workers so that they can top up their transport fare cards. Unable to work, injured workers often find themselves in financial difficulty, which goes over and above their worries over recovery. In theory, they are entitled to salary or medical leave wages (if the doctor has prescribed medical leave), but in reality, bureaucratic or other obstacles often mean that payment is badly delayed. Moreover, because of their low salaries, they often have no savings. These workers find that they do not even have the means to pay for transport to the hospital for their medical appointments or physiotherapy. FareGo aims to help with this.
