Alber Elbaz Passes Away from Covid-19

Fashion designer Alber Elbaz, renowned for his work as creative director whilst at Lanvin, has passed away from Covid-19. He was placed in an induced coma and succumbed on Saturday night in Paris. He was 59.

Elbaz, who was born in Morocco and moved to Israel with his family when he was 10 years old, studied at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Ramat Gan, Israel. He moved to New York in 1985, and worked for fashion houses such as Geoffrey Beene and Yves Saint Laurent before joining Lanvin in 2001. Elbaz has turned the fashion house into a creative and commercial success and became a favorite among fashion editors and celebrities.

Elbaz left Lanvin in 2015, and after years of inactivity, had established a new label, called AZ Factory.
