A. Lange & Söhne’s Minute Repeater Perpetual is a remarkable fusion of two horological complications: a minute repeater and a perpetual calendar. The challenge lies in harmonizing these intricate systems, requiring exceptional technical expertise and craftsmanship. It is a challenge that the watchmakers at A. Lange & Söhne have undertaken to much success, epitomized by this new timepiece unveiled Watches & Wonders 2025.
The minute repeater mechanism, activated by a slide on the left side of the case, chimes the time in a beautiful duet of sounds. It strikes the hours with a deep tone, the quarter hours with a double tone, and the minutes with a higher pitch. This elegant chime is achieved through two finely tuned gongs, capable of 720 unique sequences, one for each minute in the 12-hour cycle. The mechanism is finely orchestrated, with 194 parts working together to create the melody. Innovations like a pause elimination feature, a safety mechanism to prevent damage, and a patented hammer blocker ensure smooth and precise functioning.
The perpetual calendar mechanism ensures accurate date, day, month, and moon-phase displays, even accounting for leap years. The calendar will only require a correction on March 1, 2100. An easy-to-operate corrector allows the user to adjust all calendar indications simultaneously.
The timepiece also boasts an exquisite enamel dial crafted from white gold, with black enamel providing a striking backdrop for the intricate displays. The watch is powered by the hand-finished Lange manufacture calibre L122.2, and each detail is a testament to A. Lange & Söhne’s commitment to artisanal perfection.
Limited to just 50 pieces, this platinum watch is available exclusively at select A. Lange & Söhne boutiques, offering an unmatched blend of technical mastery and timeless elegance.
