Tissot carves a piece of the Swiss Alps for your wrist with the return of the RockWatch
By SENATUS Magazine | 29 November 2025

When seasons shift and the snow begins to melt, the land reveals traces of the past that have been shaped by nature and are waiting to be seen again. It is in this quiet moment of return that the Tissot RockWatch makes its way back into the light as it is born from the granite of the Swiss Alps. This emblematic figure was first launched in 1985 as a world-first but now emerges reborn from the raw beauty of the mountains in a limited edition of just 999 pieces.

The story of this timepiece begins high above the noise of everyday life where the Jungfrau peak cuts through the clouds at an elevation of 4,158 meters. From this majestic peak comes a secret unearthed from alpine tunnels where granite shaped over millennia becomes the soul of the watch. Transforming this raw granite into refined 38mm cases requires acute technical mastery and a delicate balance of strength and finesse. What begins deep within the earth emerges as a timepiece of rare character and stands as a quiet marvel that carries the legacy of the mountain on the wrist.

While the original 1985 model featured red and yellow hands inspired by alpine trail markers, this new edition opts for nickel-plated hands to evoke the enduring sophistication of alpine stone. This refined detail complements the granite case which is paired with a supple black leather strap that offers both contrast and comfort. The dial is protected by a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating which serves as a durable upgrade from the original mineral glass. This creates a seamless visual flow between the stone and glass while maintaining the integrity of the design.

Inside the stone casing beats a quartz movement chosen for its accuracy and lightness which makes it the ideal companion to the solidity of the granite. The presentation is equally striking as the watch arrives in an exclusive collector box designed to resemble a block of granite. This packaging evokes the rugged Alpine spirit and reinforces the connection the watch holds to its mountainous origins. Available only at select points of sale, each watch is a rare echo of the original that represents a piece of Switzerland itself.
