Bell & Ross masters the art of transparency with the BR-X3 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor
By SENATUS Magazine | 28 December 2025

In the sophisticated landscape of modern horology, certain pieces move beyond utility to become absolute manifestos of style. The Bell & Ross BR-X3 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor represents just such a climb toward the peak of Haute Horlogerie. While the house built its reputation on the rigorous foundations of aeronautical legibility and function, this new creation explores a territory where mechanics are a pure visual spectacle. It is a signature timepiece that concentrates the brand's entire design expertise into a single, exceptional narrative.

The iconic square case undergoes a radical and minimalist transformation here. Polished steel and clear sapphire crystal merge to create a fully transparent architecture where the case and movement are no longer separate entities but an inseparable whole. This alchemy is achieved through a steel middle case sandwiched between a sapphire top and caseback, all held together by four signature screws. The resulting transparency offers a complete view of every bridge and wheel, turning the watch into an object of quiet contemplation.

The aesthetic of the movement draws inspiration from the geometric abstraction of Piet Mondrian and the refined functionality of Charlotte Perriand. A strict grid of horizontal and vertical lines structures the mechanical space into a rigorous composition that mirrors the square case. Within this grid, twenty-six rubies provide punctuate moments of deep red brilliance against the brushed bridges and surgical precision of the polished edges. Time itself is reduced to its simplest expression, with hours and minutes offset at two o'clock to allow the mechanics to take center stage.

At the heart of this mechanical ballet beats the manufacture BR-CAL.389 caliber. This movement masterfully combines two major complications within an incredibly slender profile. A flying tourbillon cage rotates at five-thirty to compensate for the effects of gravity, while a miniaturized micro-rotor weight enables automatic winding without adding bulk. This technical feat allows the entire case to maintain a record thinness of just nine millimeters while providing a fifty-eight-hour power reserve. Presented on a grey alligator skin strap, this masterpiece is limited to just twenty-five pieces for the true connoisseur.
