MB&F drives into the future with the new purple HM8 Mark 2
By SENATUS Magazine | 30 December 2025

The intersection of high fashion and high octane has never looked quite as sleek as the latest offering from MB&F. While most watchmakers look to the past for inspiration, founder Maximilian Büsser looks to the childhood dreams of a boy who sketched aerodynamic silhouettes from dawn until dusk.

The HM8 Mark 2 is not merely a timepiece but a piece of kinetic art that pays homage to the legendary supercars of the seventies and beyond.

This year, the brand introduces a new mesmerizing purple edition that captures the iridescent allure of luxury car paints. With only thirty three pieces in existence, this limited variation utilizes metallic pigments and translucent materials to achieve a depth of color that would look just as at home on a custom Italian chassis as it does on the wrist.

Beneath the stunning purple exterior lies a marvel of micro engineering that challenges the very limits of sapphire crystal production. The watch features a double curved sapphire crystal that is up to forty times more expensive to produce than a standard dome, providing a crystal clear view of the complex jumping hour and trailing minute displays. These numerals are reflected through sapphire prisms, a design choice that allows the wearer to check the time at a glance while gripped to a steering wheel. Every detail is a nod to automotive excellence, from the "double de-clutch" crown system to the battle axe rotor crafted from twenty two carat gold.

The technical prowess of the HM8 Mark 2 is matched only by its innovative use of materials like CarbonMacrolon. Developed specifically for the brand, this composite is eight times lighter than steel yet remarkably rigid, allowing for a silhouette that is as comfortable as it is commanding.

Paired with a sporty rubber strap and a grade five titanium chassis, the watch is a testament to the idea that it is never too late to chase the dreams of one's youth.

For the modern collector who values both the roar of an engine and the precision of a movement, this purple masterpiece is the ultimate finish line.
