Swatch has unveiled a vibrant new timepiece to mark the Year of the Horse, specifically honoring the fierce passion of the Fire Horse. Titled Riding the Clouds, this unique creation was developed in collaboration with artist Yu Wenjie, a former artist-in-residence at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel. The watch serves as a modern celebration of go-getter energy, designed to be a daily reminder to shine without limits.
The design is deeply rooted in Chinese art and culture, blending the fire element with the resilient and independent spirit of the horse zodiac. On the dial, which represents the sun, two spirited steeds are depicted in mid-flight. One horse is rendered in white and the other in black, a thoughtful nod to the eternal balance of yin and yang. Their energy is amplified by a raised print that adds a dynamic sense of movement to the scene.
Intricate details further elevate the aesthetic, as the horses feature wings and manes made of fire while charging through drifting clouds that symbolize luck and prosperity. This red-toned background, punctuated by smaller flames representing tenacity, flows seamlessly onto the strap. The imagery is inspired by both traditional Chinese scroll paintings and the protective red bracelets found in Chinese mythology.
This fusion of tradition and modern ambition is available in Swatch stores worldwide and through the brand’s digital platform. Since its founding in 1983, Swatch has remained dedicated to artistic collaboration and revolutionary design, with this latest release joining an extensive archive of creative partnerships. Riding the Clouds invites the wearer to embrace an unstoppable spirit that radiates as brightly as the sun.
