Lewis Carroll’s iconic tale Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland came to mind as Rei Kawakubo sent the young boys of Comme des Garçons Homme Plus down the runway in varied brocades, candy-hued pastels and rabbit ears. Along with the frills of house robes and tassel finished hems, Kawakubo afforded her hero the comfort of hooded tees, relaxed trousers and baggy shorts. Decorated by a maze of prints, the collection’s casual tops transitioned into textured suiting, making for quite the visual sensation. Building on more prints, the finale took a turn to Kawakubo’s signature penchant for black providing for her beloved rebel.
