Galeries Lafayette in Paris joined in the celebrations as Dior fêtes its 70th anniversary this year.
While the highlight of the anniversary is primarily tent-poled with the ‘Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams’ exhibition running until 7 January at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, the House was also in the spotlight at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann from 20 September to 10 October.
11 window displays were dedicated to the designer, showcasing a number of exclusive products and a takeover of la Coupole, the famous dome of the store.
In addition, an exhibition entitled “I feel blue” also featured twelve outfits from the archives that represent the fondness of Monsieur Dior for the color of the kings of France.
"Among all the colors, navy blue is the only one that can compare with black, it has all the same qualities," Christian Dior - The Little Dictionary of Fashion
Navy shines in all its facets, from the wool Doris coat, emanating from his first 1947 collection forever known as the New Look, to a blue damask silk afternoon dress, named Billet Doux, designed in 1957 and featuring rose motifs.
In addition, an astrology-themed capsule collection of products was exclusively available for purchase in the store, ranging from embroidered booties, DiorSoRealPop sunglasses with blue mirrored lenses, a Rose des Vents bracelet set with a sapphire, Lady Dior handbags and more.
Lastly, limited-edition silk scarf featuring a celestial map of star signs alongside the mention "Les 70 ans de Christian Dior," or "The 70th Anniversary of Christian Dior."
