Jenson Button is hoping his second 'home' grand prix will provide him with a lift in his fight for this season's Formula One world title.
In rekindling his romance with Japanese/Argentinian model Jessica Michibata a few months ago, Button has spent a considerable amount of time in the Far East of late. He was also previously part of the Honda Racing F1 team, which ended its participation in Formula One in 2008.
Prior to Sunday's Singapore Grand Prix Button enjoyed a few days in Japan and, following a whistle-stop trip back to Europe this week, the 30-year-old will return on Friday as he builds towards the race at Suzuka on October 10.
"I'm going to England for a day to spend some time in the simulator at the factory," said Button.
The missus has also been invited to Paris for a fashion week, so I'm going to go there for a day, and then I'll arrive in Japan on Friday."He added: "I see it as my second home grand prix. It's a very special race, and one I'm very much looking forward to because I love Suzuka.
"If we have a good car around there then it's a lovely place to be competitive.
I'm hoping we'll have some good support from the Japanese fans, and with Jessica being Japanese I'm sure there'll be a lot of her supporters there as well.Button has also promised there will be a special helmet design for the race, one that will likely include a Japanese theme, aside from his customary Union Jack motif.
After finishing fourth under the lights of the Marina Bay street circuit, leaving him 25 points adrift of championship leader Mark Webber, Button is convinced Japan will serve him better.
"Singapore was always going to be a tough race," added Button. "The pace wasn't in the car and I wasn't 100 per cent with it, but it was all right and to get 12 points was pretty good.
I know we'll be going to Suzuka with a much better package, and to a circuit that will suit our car more."
