Jaeger-LeCoultre returns to the Venice Film Festival, held from 28 August to 7 September, for its ninth consecutive year as partner of the event. The Swiss watch label, founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre and his son Elie, also found the occasion to hold a grand celebration its 180th anniversary in the Italian city.
To showcase its support of the 70th annual Venice International Film Festival organized by the Biennale di Venezia, Jaeger-LeCoultre will be presenting a personalized Reverso watch to the winners of the Best Film (Leone d’Oro, the Golden Lion Award), the Best Actress and Best Actor of the year (Coppa Volpi Awards).
The watches will feature a lacquered engraving depicting a lion, the symbol of Venice, handcrafted in accordance with the finest traditions, and bear the inscription "70. Mostra".
Jaeger-LeCoultre has recognized the creative ingenuity of filmmakers through the Glory to the Filmmaker Award recognizing a personality that has brought "great innovation to contemporary cinema."
The 2013 prize will be conferred to Ettore Scola, a "master of Italian cinema", at the awards ceremony which will take place on 6 September.
Gala Dinner at The Teatro La Fenice
On 2 September, over 250 international guests including the Biennale President Paolo Baratta, Venice Film Festival Director Alberto Barbera, Diane Kruger - a friend of Jaeger-LeCoultre and the face of its ladies’ collections, celebrities Joshua Jackson, Cristiana Capotondi, Riccardo Scamarcio, Carmen Chaplin and Scott Haze attended a celebratory gala dinner held at The Teatro La Fenice.
As part of the evening's festivities, the Swiss watchmaker showcased its three-piece Jubilee collection in commemoration of its 180th anniversary.
The headliner timepiece in the exhibit was the Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Cylindrique à Quantième Perpétuel Jubilee, issued in a limited series of 180, is equipped with the new Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 985 automatic movement and features a perpetual calendar, a platinum case and sapphire crystal glass casing and is the first model to combine a flying tourbillon with a cylindrical balance-spring.
The collection also includes the Master Ultra Thin Jubilee and the Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 Jubilee of which only 85 were created.
