Founded by Jean Cassegrain in 1948, Longchamp celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, and as part of its celebration, the French luxury brand has opened its biggest retail store in the U.S., on New York's prestigious Fifth Avenue.
Work began several months ago on the new Longchamp store at 645 Fifth Avenue, in the vicinity of Central Park and the Rockefeller Center. Recently completed, the Longchamp flagship officially opens its doors on 3 May.
As well as enjoying a prime location on Manhatten, the store has more than 370m square metres of floor space on two levels. The store will stock the French label’s ready-to-wear and accessories collections, including its first sunglasses collection, developed with eyewear manufacturer Marchon and released in fall/winter 2017.
The boutique will showcase Longchamp's women’s ready-to-wear clothing, as well as shoes, luggage, leather accessories for men and women, plus the label’s handbag range, including the iconic Le Pliage.
