Catalan label Pronovias celebrated its 50th anniversary on 9 May during the 2014th edition of Barcelona Bridal Week with a show featuring a star-studded cast and exquisite Atelier Pronovias and Pronovias collections for 2015, which inspired by the history of the company over the last half-a-century.
Staged at the Pabellón Italiano de Barcelona and attended by more than 2,000 people, celebrities, VIPs, guests, media and clients from all over the world were treated to the show entitled "Pronovias Dream Factory".
The set for this fabulous runway show was a reproduction of the Mudejar-style façade of the Pronovias flagship store in Seville, a historical building that appears on the list of World Heritage properties.
The wooden façade with its perspex windows was 24.5 metres wide and 17 metres high, all brought to life with a mapping displaying images from the firm’s archives.
Supermodels Constance Jablonski, Sigrid Agreen, Kate Grigoreva, Ymre Stiekema, Diana Moldovan, and the star of the show Karolina Kurkova - who led the runway in 2013 as well - were enlisted to showcase the label's designs on this special occasion.
The finale saw the stage joined by 67-strong creative team of Pronovias on the stage, a glowing tribute the artisans working hard behind the scenes.
The new Atelier Pronovias collection for the 2015 season is inspired by the company’s long, successful trajectory and introduces some completely new items including bodices and skirts allowing for dresses to be separated into two pieces, providing more matching possibilities.
There were also bejewelled dresses accentuated with gemstone embroidery in different tones while the shirt dress continues to be one of the label's signature looks.
Sumptuous fabrics of exquisite French and Chantilly lace, mikado silk, crepe or brocade were also employed in the designs, with plenty of satin and soft satin conjured into lingerie-inspired dresses - adding a touch of Hollywood glamour from the 1930s and 1940s.
Tulle has been used to create sinuous layering on long sleeves and at the neckline and back, embellished with delicate embroidery creating a magical tattoo effect on the skin. Plunging backs and necklines with floral lace, new hand-draping and embroidery in pastel colours give a romantic air to the spectacular show by Ponovias.
