Tanglin Gin, the first gin to be distilled in Singapore, has picked up a coveted Silver Award in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC).
Founded in 1969, the highly respected awards acknowledge the top spirits in the world and this year saw even tougher competition with well over 600 gins from around the world entering, up 400 from 2017.
A silver medal means that a spirit has scored between 80-85.9 out of 100, and is described as a 'fine example of excellent quality' by the judges who deliberated on the winners in August earlier this year. There were 58 judges from eight Asian countries, including 18 sommeliers and bartenders from Michelin-starred restaurants, hotels and restaurant groups, blind-tasted entries from 35 countries to select the best wine and spirits in the business. They were also joined by two VIP International Judges: Daniel Pi, Chief Winemaker at Trapiche Argentina and Lesley Gracie, Master Distiller at Hendrick’s Gin for these tough decisions.
Tanglin Gin is the first of its kind to be distilled right here in Singapore. Founded by gin lovers with a passion for Singapore, the old world modern gin combines botanicals found in the oldest recipes, with a few new ones to truly represent Singapore.
The first batch named 'Orchid Gin' is now available in bars and restaurants across Singapore including Native, Spiffy Dapper and ATLAS to name a few.
Tanglin Gin can be purchased at selected drinks retailers, and is also available at DFS stores in all terminals at Singapore Changi Airport.
