Ulu Cliffhouse in Bali Set to Open on 23 September

22 September 2017

By Natalie White

Ulu Cliffhouse, the 50,000ft² clifftop playground nestled in Uluwatu, Bali, is set to open on 23 September.

With direct access to the beach, Ulu offers a 25-metre infinity pool, a music recording studio, an art space and food and drinks – from its open-air restaurant to cliff side rock bar hanging provocatively over the waves.

Commanding jaw-dropping views of the ocean, Ulu Cliffhouse designed by Shed London and Bali's Design Assembly, draws on the iconic 1950’s Palm Springs aesthetic, enhancing its raw environment with modern edges, effortless chic and youthful cheek.

Its restaurant is headed by world-renowned Peruvian Chef Diego Muñoz, who led Astrid & Gaston to #14 in The World's 50 Best Restaurants List. The culinary offering aims to go beyond the typical beach club menu by incorporating the influence of Diego's travels around the world and Bali's local environment at the same time.

The fresh, fun and locally sourced offerings reflect Chef Diego’s ability to integrate culturally diverse flavours, resulting in a menu that includes a raw bar showcasing his personal take on ceviches, tiraditos, and an array of other culinary delights – all created tastefully to complement Uluwatu's laidback lifestyle.

The restaurant and the bar, with a capacity of 80 and 100 respectively, house timber and rattan pavilions that provide a soft dappled shade, offering tiered dining with a no filter necessary view of the Indian Ocean.

Against the backdrop of handcrafted furniture layered with bold tropical prints and soft pastel colours, guests can opt to unwind over Ulu Cliffhouse’s delicious menu with two cantilevered terraces that flank the cliff edge with shaded deep sun loungers.

For poolside gazing and serious people watching, the centerpiece of Ulu Cliffhouse's upper level is the 25m infinity pool. With a capacity of over 300 and its clean lines, geometric motifs and pastel furniture, revelers are invited to bask in loungers arranged in sets around the pool, with hammocks strung between palms and beds of lush greenery.

Tucked out of sight is the jewel of Ulu Cliffhouse - the rock bar, half way down the cliff face accessible via a winding stairway.

Situated above the ocean front, the bar with a capacity of 100 offers a secret hideaway where guests can sip on tiki-style cocktails as they revel in the best sundowner the island has to offer.

When the tide is low, patrons will also have unbridled access to bar’s very own private beach cove where turquoise seawater meets a fine, sandy shoreline.

With such attractive offerings, Ulu Cliffhouse is set to be home to Bali's creative crowd, as well as being a space for wanderlusters to unwind or let loose.
