This August, the National Museum of Singapore presents a superb collection of wedding dresses from the Victoria and Albert Museum in London for the very first time.
The exhibition entitled "The Wedding Dress: 200 Years of Wedding Fashion from the Victoria and Albert Museum, London" tells the history of the dress and its enduring popularity from the early 1800s to the present day through fascinating accounts about the lives of the wearers, their fashion choices and the economic and social conditions of the time.
On display will be gowns by celebrated designers, including Charles Frederick Worth, Charles James, Christian Lacroix, John Galliano, Norman Hartnell, Vera Wang, Vivienne Westwood and Zandra Rhodes.
The exhibition also includes sumptuous wedding dresses worn by celebrities such as Dita Von Teese and Gwen Stefani.
In conjunction with the exhibition, there will be a display of Western and traditional wedding costumes worn by Singapore women of different ethnic groups from the National Museum’s collection at The Canyon.

May Khuen will also present a section of the exhibition that features a display of Western and traditional wedding costumes worn by Singapore women of different ethnic groups.
