SENATUS would like to cordially invite fellow members to join us as fashion label Ong Shunmugam celebrates its 2nd year anniversary, winning ELLE's Designer of the Year and the launch of the its Spring Summer 2013 collection.

Held at Atelier Ong Shunmugam, the event will be an intimate affair for invited guests to meet and speak with the designer, enjoy an up close and in person experience with the new collection, as well as serve as a timely introduction to those yet unfamiliar to the label that has been making the waves on the fashion scene, locally and regionally.

About Ong Shunmugam
Ong Shunmugam is a Singapore-based contemporary womenswear label with a distinct Asian aesthetic that has made notable waves in the local fashion industry since its launch almost two years ago.

Designed and made across Asia, Ong Shunmugam's collections are targeted at discerning 25 to 50 year old women with an affinity for both the old and the new, or simply an appreciation for beautifully crafted clothing focused on sartorial construction and longevity.

Founder and designer Priscilla Shunmugam cites her Chinese-Indian ancestry for her fixation on reviving traditional wear and reinstating its place in today's modern wardrobe.

A Breakthrough Year
March 2012 saw the label collaborate with the National Museum of Singapore for the In The Mood For Cheongsam exhibition, where Ong Shunmugam became the first womenswear label to retail at the museum. In addition to a showcase of the Guardianship collection at the exhibition's opening night fundraiser, designer Priscilla Shunmugam and Guardianship cheongsams were also featured in the museum-produced book of the same name.

Ong Shunmugam was one of only two Singapore labels selected by the platform Future Fashion Now to show its Spring/Summer’13 collection at Paris Fashion Week in October 2012, and was also awarded Breakthrough Local Label by Cleo Magazine Singapore at its 2012 Cleo Fashion Awards.

In November 2012, designer Priscilla Shunmugam was awarded Designer of the Year at the 2012 Elle Singapore Awards.
