Set to take place from 5 to 8 March at Marina Bay Sands, the 2015 edition of the Singapore International Jazz Festival will be headlined by best-selling, Grammy award-winning artiste Chris Botti as well as the celebrated likes of Jessie J, Bobby McFerrin and Ramsey Lewis.
The Italian-American composer-trumpeter recently won the 2013 Grammy Award in the Best Pop Instrumental Album.
He was also nominated in 2008 for his album Italia and received three nominations in 2010 for the live album Chris Botti In Boston. Four of his albums have reached the No. 1 position on the Billboard jazz albums chart.
Jazz lovers in Singapore will no doubt look forward to Botti, who last performed at the Esplanade back in December 2011.
Organised by Orbis Festival Productions, the event known as 'SING JAZZ' returns for its second year, and showcases not only the biggest names in world jazz but emerging talents from the international, regional and Singapore as well.
SING JAZZ 2015, and its parallel satellite events, will bring to the forefront the creative essence of jazz at its most enduring – live and spontaneous; while at the same time acknowledging and embracing influences across other genres of music. The wide array of music influences should appeal to music lovers from all walks.
Proceeds from the Festival will also go towards supporting the Foundation for Arts and Social Enterprise set to launch in 2015. The entity is a private-sector-led and nonprofit institution with the aim is to develop and promote arts projects and social-enterprise initiatives, to establish Singapore’s stature as a global Asian arts hub and to share the experiences of Singapore’s growth through social initiatives throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
