Grammy® Award winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Metallica have announced their upcoming Asia tour with new dates in Seoul, Hong Kong and Singapore.
On 11 January, the American band will perform at the Gocheok Sky Dome in South Korea, on 20 January at AsiaWorld Expo in Hong Kong.
The last time the band came to Singapore was in 2013, playing to the sold-out crowds at Changi Exhibition Centre. It will play at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 22 January.
Metallica recently announced that they will release their 11th studio album "Hardwired…To Self-Destruct" on 18 November 2016, via Blackened Recordings. The two-CD / two-vinyl set is the band’s first studio album since the multi-platinum Death Magnetic (2008).
Metallica was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield. It is one of the most influential and commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold 110 million albums worldwide while playing to millions of fans on literally all seven continents. It has scored several multi-platinum albums, including 1991's Metallica (commonly referred to as The Black Album), racking up sales of nearly 17 million copies in the United States alone, making it the bestselling album in SoundScan’s history.
Metallica has also garnered numerous awards and accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, and multiple MTV Video Music Awards. It was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in 2009.
In December 2013, Metallica made history when it performed a rare concert in Antarctica, earning itself a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records by becoming the first act ever to make its mark on all seven continents within a year.
