From 27 October through 5 November, Hermès is hosting an exhibition entitled 'Time, an Hermès object' at Ngee Ann City.
The showcase of the Maison's timepieces is set to open with Gandini Juggling, as a symbolisation and illustration of manipulating the time in your hands. Performers playing peculiar characters will mingle with the guests —In their hands, apples pirouette in a ballet of fluid and precise gestures.
It is this very notion that Hermès wishes to extend upon, in its exhibit. Rather than measuring, ordering, and seeking to control it, Hermès seeks, nay, dares to explore another component to time, designed to arouse emotions, open up interludes and create spaces for spontaneity.
In addition, a scenography-inspired circuit awaits the visitor. First, witness monolithic windows in which the watches appear and disappear in time with pulsating light.
Then come interactive screens, human sized to better appropriate the forms. Before these two-way mirrors, silhouettes of the visitors are displayed before slowly vanishing into smoke.
Videos and images succeed each other, stretched, duplicated in the manner of a kaleidoscope.
Do what you will in front of the screen, the stage is yours.
The time, yours to play with.
