The British Glamour Girls of Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2015

The interpretation of “contradiction” and “rebirth” into his first real visual statement of design, Christopher Bailey created a very British Glamour looks for Burberry spring-summer 2015 collection debuted during London Fashion Week. The label’s Britpop philosophy and a perception of soft countryside amorous feeling were channelled together to create a look enthused by a British garden embracing floral and insect ornament.

The Burberry girl goes casual for the new season in a nostalgia-infused garments of abridged and peplum denim jackets, the edge finished in shearling fringes, as worn by supermodel Malaika Firth when she opened the show. Patterns were mimic watercolours or grasps of titles and insects such as honey bees and dragonflies inspired from the 1940s books covers and distended on garment to give dresses and trenches an immature, crafty composition. The numerous version of jacket were distorted, in which Bailey has magnificently bonded his youthful state-of-the-art design susceptibilities with commerce. Some were wrinkled in embryonic white ostrich plumes, others were cropped and covered in smudged pink jacket. Under the jacket were taffeta dresses as light as feathers that were hemmed around bodies.

“I love the idea of wildlife and things that have been born again. We mixed things that were very fragile like denim and gabardine with things that were very fine and delicate like silks.” Bailey said backstage.

Trench coats have always been essential to both the Burberry brand and to the steering attitude of Prorsum. Nevertheless, Bailey reinvents this essential garment for his spring-summer 2015 collection, where the Burberry woman wears an updated 1970 trench-made of suede or leather with glossy patent edges that appears contemporary and new. The shoes also become one of the key looks for this new season of Burberry collection. There were all either leather sneakers or Birkenstocks with the colours of butterfly wings – presenting a composition between luxury and casual style that many high-end fashion labels have been experimenting in recently.

When it comes to beauty, the Burberry girl has perfect, honey-toned skin, a natural tawny eye and a passionate deep red rose lip from Burberry Lip Cover in Ruby collection. “This collection is all about the birds and the bees,” said the Burberry makeup artist Wendy Rowe backstage before the label’s show. Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base in Golden Radiance then used to give the model’s skin sun kissed, seamless finish.

Burberry show was not just about the dazzlingly coloured clothes that caught the attention, but the technology around them. Twitter just launched its click-to-buy button, in conjunction with the high-end Prorsum show on Monday. “Digital is part of the language every day now, the way we think, and the way we connect with customers,” says Carole Fairweather, finance director of Burberry. The brand will not only live-streaming the shows, however the customers also can order the garments straight from the runway.
