Louis Vuitton unveiled its collaboration with cult skatewear label Supreme at its Fall/Winter 2017/18 menswear presentation in Paris on Wednesday.
The collection offers a selection of menswear as well as accessories including bags, backpacks, baseball bats, hats, keychains, scarves, blankets, sunglasses,skateboard decks, as well as iPhone covers in trunk style - all of which features both brand’s iconic logos -- a reference to LV-inspired logo T-shirts, beanies, and skate decks made by Supreme in 2000, to which had the French luxury label filing a law suit in response.
Kim Jones, men’s artistic director at Louis Vuitton explained how the partnership came about. "You can’t have the conversation of New York men’s wear without Supreme right now, because it’s such a massive global phenomenon."
"I used to work when I was at college unpacking boxes of Supreme at a company in London that distributed it when it was just starting out, so it’s something I’ve known all along in my life. I just feel that the strength of their graphic versus the strength of the Louis Vuitton graphic, and that kind of Pop Art feeling — it works together perfectly."
