John Galliano Unleashed at Maison Margiela at Haute Couture Week in Paris
By SENATUS Magazine | 26 January 2017

Finally, the creative genius that is John Galliano, that we have come to expect from his years at Dior, has finally been unleashed with one iconic image, an art-meets-fashion dress in the label's Spring/Summer 2017 couture collection showcased in Paris earlier today.

Titled Artisanal, the collection opened with a line-up of black ensembles, including a oversized blazer with shoulder cut-outs worn with patent leather knee-high boots and a sheer black dress worn over a nude slip which incorporated black corseting.

A common thread through the line was a face motif, with Picasso-esque graphics of eyes, mouths and lips painted onto a white gauze raincoat, and on a red and black flowing gown. The idea was also incorporated into one of the most memorable garments in the line, a floor-length white coat featuring a design of a face printed in black, which was covered in layers of sweeping black tulle. The ensemble was topped off with a pilgrim-inspired large white hat.
