During Haute Couture Week now taking place in Paris, the designs of the late Azzedine Alaia are being exhibited in the glass-roofed gallery next to his studio and home in the Marais district where he used to show his creations.
None of the dresses in "Azzedine Alaia: I am a Couturier" exhibition which runs till June have denotations for when they were made, which added the the timeless appeal of the Algeria-born designer.
"I defy anyone to distinguish between a dress made in 1981, 1995 or 2017," exhorted fashion historian Olivier Saillard, who curated the selection.
