Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin - a new grand complication for Piaget's sports watch collection
By SENATUS Editor | 7 February 2023

The sports watch collection from Piaget, the Piaget Polo welcomes for the first time a grand complication, the mechanical perpetual calendar with moon-phase display. Featuring an ingenious shape-within-shape that is Piaget's distinctive hallmark, the Piaget Polo extends this unique association of a cushion-shaped dial within a round case.

Designed to advance the day, date, and year until the year 2100 - months, moon phases and leap-year cycle, the perpetual calendar complication is one that Piaget has developed considerable expertise already deployed in some of its other watch lines.

The new 42mm Piaget Polo Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin is just 8.65 mm thick, housing the ultra-thin 1225P calibre inside. To achieve this slimes, the Manufacture drew on the ultra-thin 1200P caliber with its extremely slimness and proven reliability, while adding an additional Perpetual Calendar with moon-phase mechanism.

The timepiece boats a dark emerald-green dial with a gadroon pattern and three subdials for the date, month (along with leap-year indication) and weekday at 9, 12 and 3 o’clock, along with the moonphase indication at 6 o’clock. The subdials incorporate several finishes, adding visual richness as the light plays across them, along with Super-Luminova® indexes. An aesthetic link between the new-gen Piaget Polo and its predecessors is reinforced by the reappearance of the gadroons on the bracelet, first seen in 1979.

Other enhancements relate to a brand-new interchangeable SingleTouch system for the bracelet, as the model comes with a comfortable rubber strap alternative – echoing the gadroon pattern on the dial – that easily yet securely diversifies the wearability options.
