Richard Mille scores a technical win with the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer

14 April 2026

The pitch meets the pinnacle of mechanical precision in a collaboration that redefines the relationship between sport and time. Richard Mille has unveiled the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer, a timepiece that tackles the unique challenge of tracking a match from the opening kick-off to the final whistle. This release follows a lineage of soccer-centric innovation that began with the RM 11-01 and RM 11-04 Roberto Mancini, yet this latest iteration pushes the concept into entirely new territory.

At the heart of the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer is a patented tourbillon flyback chronograph calibre that was five years in development. This movement serves as a clear expression of technical mastery, featuring a 70-hour power reserve and a function indicator alongside its complex chronograph. The brand began with a blank canvas to ensure that sport-specific functionality could be merged seamlessly with advanced watchmaking.

Two all-new complications define the identity of this timepiece. The match-phase indicator, located at 9 o'clock, advances with each reset of the flyback chronograph to guide the wearer through the first and second halves, followed by overtime phases. Opposite this window, mechanical goal counters track the scores for both home and visiting teams. Using pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock, the hands advance along metallic rails to record up to nine goals for each side.

The architecture of the movement is a study in extreme skeletonisation. Richard Mille has meticulously optimised every bridge, gear, and lever to remove unnecessary material and reduce weight. The result is a highly transparent structure that reveals a dance of levers, hammers, and two column wheels. Even the 5N PVD-treated titanium bridge securing the barrel draws inspiration from the hexagonal pattern of a soccer ball.

For the case of the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer, the brand introduces Red Carmin Basalt TPT. This new composite is derived from volcanic rock and features 40-micron-thick basalt fibres stacked at specific angles. The material reveals a naturally wood-like grain and offers exceptional resistance to chemicals and thermal shifts. A second version of the watch is available in dark blue Quartz TPT.

Despite its intricate internal world of nearly 800 components, the watch is built to withstand the rigours of an active life. It has undergone extensive validation protocols, including a trial that subjects the timepiece to 5,000 g's. This ensures that the RM 41-01 Tourbillon Soccer remains as durable as it is visually arresting.

Released in two versions as a limited edition of only 30 timepieces, the watch prioritises usability and ergonomics. From the tactile feedback of the pushers to the hand-applied lacquer on the baseplate, every detail reflects a shared drive to push the boundaries of what is technically achievable. Richard Mille continues to prove that mechanical beauty can be as functional as it is profound.
