Last year saw the launch of MB&F's HM8 Mark 2, first available in white and green. Now, the independent watch brand released a limited edition of 33 pieces of the HM8 Mark 2 Blue. The new timepiece comes with glossy sapphire-blue body panels recalling luxurious car paints, both technically and aesthetically.
The new HM8 Mark 2’s deep, iridescent sapphire blue is obtained from metallic pigments of mineral origin, the same as those found in metallic car paint. They come as a powder that is incorporated into the translucent resin according to a very specific (and secret) protocol involving incorporation time, mixing temperature, mixing speed and duration.
The HM8 Mark 2 draws from its predecessors: HM5’s supercar styling, HMX’s compact size, and HM8’s very apparent mechanics. Placed within an aerodynamic sandwich of CarbonMacrolon, grade 5 titanium and hyper-complex sapphire crystal, the HM8 Mark 2 is a true supercar for the wrist.
The timepiece with its lateral time displays allows the wearer to check the time while keeping the hands firmly on the steering wheel. Like its predecessors, the HM8 Mark 2 Blue is powered by a unique combination of mechanical and optical engineering: the automatic movement’s hour and minute discs, which lay horizontally, are optically magnified and projected 90 degrees to the vertical display thanks to high-precision prisms crafted in sapphire crystal.
