For its inaugural participation in LVMH Watch Week this year, Tiffany & Co. introduces the Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock tsavorite watch.
On the dial, creating a stunning contrast with the diamond-set central disc, are 36 baguette tsavorites of 5.4 total carats set on the rotating outer ring. Artisans applied the invisible-setting technique to maximize the beauty and intensity of the gemstone’s verdant green hue. A Tiffany & Co. legacy gemstone that the House introduced to the world in 1974. On the watch, the tsavorites’ green hue is complemented by a dark green alligator strap fastened by a diamond-set T buckle.
The bird that perches on the tsavorite ring is set with 99 round full-cut diamonds, and a pink sapphire eye. The dial is snow-set with 166 round full-cut diamonds of 1.1 total carats) and the case is snow-set with 413 round brilliant diamonds of approximately total 4 carats. Snow-setting is a technique whereby round brilliant diamonds of different sizes are meticulously arranged to create a glittering expanse of light and reflection with minimal visible metal. This technique demands great skill; the case alone requires almost 55 hours of gem-setting.
The case-back engraved with a sunburst pattern that takes inspiration from the Jean Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. Floral Arrows brooch is highlighted by a sprinkling of diamonds. The design of the time-setting and winding crown was inspired by the Tiffany Setting® engagement ring and features a prong-set solitaire diamond of more than 0.45 carats that nods to the iconic ring’s six-prong setting.
A fine Swiss self-winding movement, Calibre LTM 2100, powers the 39mm Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany Bird on a Rock Tsavorite watch, providing a power reserve of 38 hours.
