Award-winning MB&F Legacy Machine Perpetual Now Available in Yellow Gold

31 January 2020

By Kien Lee

First launched by MB&F in 2015, the Legacy Machine Perpetual has it stratospheric heights with its win of the coveted Best Calendar Watch award at the 2016 edition of the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG).

Boasting a unique solution to the mechanical execution of perpetual calendars in a wristwatch, the model is one of the independent label's bestsellers. Having previously been released in limited editions of white gold, red gold, platinum and titanium, it has now been released in a new 18k yellow gold case with a deep blue face, limited to just 25 pieces.

In the fifteen year history of the brand, the only other timepiece that has been offered in yellow gold is the LM101 Frost YG and that was five years ago.

Developed in collaboration with independent Irish watchmaker Stephen McDonnell, the 581-component LM Perpetual movement completely reinvented the perpetual calendar complication, eliminating the usual drawbacks such as skipping dates or jamming gears. The calibre was designed from scratch for trouble-free, user-friendly use.

To achieve this, it went against the convention and executed a 28-day month as a default, adding extra days only as required.

But putting aside the remarkable technical aspects of this Machine, it’s the open dial revealing the full complication and suspended balance wheel that really steal the show.

The Hour Glass is the exclusive retailer of MB&F in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia.
