Louis Vuitton has opened its seventh store in Osaka, its third Maison in Japan after Omotesando and Matsuya Ginza in Tokyo. The Louis Vuitton Maison Osaka Midosuji is the imaginative result of a close collaboration between Jun Aoki and Peter Marino, both of whom are long term friends of the House.
Located on the top floor of the Maison, it features an open top terrace and an adjoining bar, with a sea-like terrazzo floor and coloured roof decorations.
The store reflects Osaka's roots as Japan’s most important sea port, with the façade inspired by the sails of traditional Japanese Higaki-Kaisen cargo ships, and the interior combining a maritime feel with Japanese traditional materials of woodwork and origami washi paper. Wooden floors give the impression of decks, while wood-clad pillars and metal roofs reminiscent of the spirit of a yacht.
The four floors are divided into Accessories, The Art of Travel, Women’s Collection by Nicolas Ghesquière and Men’s offering from Virgil Abloh.
Objets Nomades pieces and contemporary art works are creatively placed throughout the Maison, to contrast and emphasise with the architecture.
The opening of Maison Osaka Midosuji also marks the exciting launch of Le Café V, the very first Louis Vuitton café in cooperation with celebrated chef Yosuke Suga.
Located on the top floor of the Maison, it features an open top terrace and an adjoining bar, with a sea-like terrazzo floor and coloured roof decorations.
The café also houses the secret entrance to Sugalabo V, Chef Suga’s exclusive restaurant that is also housed within the Maison. Accessible by a speakeasy-style door, it opens to an intimate dining space for a small group of diners to discover Chef’s Suga’s exquisite cuisine.
