Rolex and Cortina Watch unveil “Time Zone to Time Zone” — a journey through the legacy of the GMT-Master in Singapore

26 October 2025

By Kien Lee

From 24 October to 2 November 2025, Rolex and Cortina Watch invite Singapore to embark on a journey through time at Time Zone to Time Zone, an immersive pop-up exhibition at Paragon’s Level 1 Main Atrium.

Celebrating the storied Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master, the showcase pays homage to a timepiece that transcended cockpit functionality to become a modern icon of global connection and cosmopolitan style.

Launched in 1955 at the dawn of the jet age, the GMT-Master was conceived as a companion for aviators navigating multiple time zones — its instantly recognisable two-colour bezel marking day and night across continents. Over the decades, the collection has mirrored the evolution of travel itself, from the pioneering Pan Am pilots of the Fifties to today’s global citizens. Each new iteration — from Plexiglas to aluminium and now to Rolex’s high-tech Cerachrom ceramic bezel — has refined its function while preserving its soul.

The GMT-Master II’s independent hour hand, introduced in 1982, was a revolution in readability, while the latest calibre 3285 movement represents Rolex precision at its most advanced.

Within the exhibition, visitors can trace these milestones across a series of thematic panels and short films — a visual chronicle of how one watch has kept pace with humanity’s perpetual motion. On display are the current GMT-Master II creations in Oystersteel, yellow Rolesor, and 18-carat yellow gold, including models adorned with the lustrous Jubilee bracelet. Together, they embody a heritage of exploration and excellence that continues to define the Rolex ethos.

Time Zone to Time Zone also honours the personalities who have worn the GMT-Master through history — from trailblazers of aviation to contemporary explorers who continue to push boundaries. The exhibition culminates in a short documentary that reflects on the watch’s timeless appeal — a reminder that wherever we travel, some connections transcend time zones.
