London resumes the menswear calendar with the second of its bi-annual showcase of British brands and businesses embedded in a cultural programme organized by the British Fashion Council.

London Collections: Men (LC:M) emphasises both the creative and commercial importance of Britain’s brands and emerging talent as well as the rich cultural landscape that contributes to the inspiration and success of this sector.

All events on the schedule are designed to showcase the breadth of British fashion talent, from the world’s most innovative emerging talents to global menswear brands and Savile Row tailors.

"The inaugural men's week was far more successful than any of us anticipated, and we have been overwhelmed by the support and enthusiasm for the project from designers, retailers, buyers and the press" Dylan Jones, Chair of the Menswear Committee

In March, Burberry announced that after more than a decade showcasing its menswear collection at Men's Fashion Week in Milan, that future editions of its men's catwalk will be held in London.

For the British luxury label, the move back to its national capital marks a shift in the global politics of fashion, with London emerging in as the #1 Fashion Capital of the World for 2012, edging its close competitor New York City for the second year in a row and trumping over traditional strongholds of Paris and Milan, according to the ninth annual study by Global Language Monitor. New York label Rag & Bone will be holding its first ever UK show while Jimmy Choo had announced a similar move from Milan to London for its menswear show, coinciding with the opening of its flagship men's store on Dover Street.

British label Paul Smith will also be conducting an exclusive presentation.

Expect to also see big names like Alexander McQueen, Oliver Spencer, Jonathan Saunders and Richard Nicoll participating in the grand LC:M affair, while Tom Ford, Nicole Farhi and Christopher Kane will be holding private appointments for press and buyers.

With over 60 designers, this is the biggest season yet for London.
