A Modern Take on the Classically Bohemian in Burberry Fall/Winter 2015 Menswear

With 'Classical Bohemian' as inspiration and theme for his designs, Chief Creative Officer and CEO of Burberry Christopher Bailey juxtaposed British heritage with Bohemian layering into the label's latest Fall/Winter 2015/2016 collection.

The fashion show took place at Kensington Gardens during the recently-concluded London Collections: Men bi-annual event.

Wielding a sensibility that never appears too directional or too avant-garde, Bailey has ensured that the Prorsum brand remains accessible. Nonetheless, the designer pulled out all the stops and put his stamp on the showcase with variations of classically made-to-order pieces.

Sophisticated elegance was brought to the forefront.

The paisley and floral prints shirts were enthused by quilts from Durham, and leopard-printed shearling jackets were presented in a predominantly solid, dark tones fabrics.

"I wanted the collection to feel formal and quite classic but with a strong bohemian spirit" explained Bailey after the show.

Trench coats which have always been essential to both the Burberry brand and to the directional attitude of Prorsum, was this season, reformulated and revolutionised with mirror-embroidered texture.

Further, Bailey's confident use of colour on 'The Burberry Carryall' and variation of patterns such as animal print shearling, grainy leather, fringed suede, suede camouflage and canvas check continues to define his recognizable touch.

In doing so, Burberry has effectively established a sophisticated language that reflects a renewed and up-to-the-minute approach to men's accessories.

The models marched down the runway with scarves in metallic accents and classic Burberry check, as well as the introduction of 'The Burberry Scholar' eyewear collection of optical and sunglasses - a new element included into the runway show.

British singer-songwriter Clare Maguire who had provided the soundtrack for Burberry’s previous shows, performed live this time with London Contemporary Voices and The Langley Sisters.

Guests at the show included the current faces of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2015 campaign Jourdan Dunn and George Barnett, actors James Norton, George MacKay, Edward Holcroft and Giorgio Pasotti, musicians James Bay and Tinie Tempah, models Liu Wen and David Gandy, radio presenters Dermot O’Leary and Nick Grimshaw, as well as producers and filmmakers Mohammed Al Turki and Ali Mustafa.
